Archiving Policy

JDCS is committed to keeping what it publishes available for the long term. Articles should stay accessible to readers and researchers even if the journal were to stop publishing or its website became unavailable.

Preservation Service

JDCS's content is preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free, not-for-profit dark archive built for journals that run on Open Journal Systems. PKP PN uses the LOCKSS model ("Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe"), storing copies across a global network of preservation nodes.

What This Means for Readers and Authors

As a dark archive, PKP PN holds content securely and out of public view in normal times. It releases the content if a trigger event occurs, such as the journal ceasing publication or its content becoming unavailable from JDCS's own site. As a result:

  • Published articles remain part of the permanent scholarly record, whatever happens to the journal
  • Citations to JDCS articles stay valid and traceable over the long term
  • Readers and institutions can rely on continued access to the research we publish
