Open Access Policy

Historical, Philosophical and Linguistic Studies (HPL) is fully open access. Everything we publish is free to read online from the day it appears, anywhere in the world, with no subscription, registration or pay-per-view barrier. For researchers and practitioners in low- and middle-income countries, we think that matters.

We follow the Budapest Open Access Initiative definition. Anyone may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of our articles and use them for any lawful purpose, as long as the authors and the original source are properly cited.

Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors keep their copyright, and nothing is transferred to the journal. The Copyright and Licensing Policy explains this in full.

There is no embargo. The final published version of each article is available in full as soon as it is published.

HPL charges an Article Processing Charge on acceptance, based on the corresponding author's country income level and the article type. Full waivers are available for authors from low-income countries, for genuine financial hardship, and for unfunded students and early-career researchers. Whether an author pays, or receives a waiver, has no bearing on editorial decisions. See Article Processing Charges.
